Aleda, Leda and the Swan, Finest Classic Lost Wax Bronze Sculpture by Clesinger ~ Large

$17.3 $21.97
While some of us like to lay down and rest with our pet dogs or cats, this naked lady prefers to relax with her comfort swan. This unique classic sculpture of a nude lady relaxing with her swan by Clesinger is perfect for a boudoir, bath, pool or spa. The original sculpture can be found in the Musée de Picardie . The Myth:  https:greekgodsandgoddesses.net/myths/the-story-of-leda-the-swan/ Dimensions: 18’H X 32″L. This statue is cast in the finest American bronze using the superior lost wax method, finished in a multi-color patina and mounted on a black marble base with an etched brass plate that bears the name of the statue and the artist. Marble base on all statues is optional but included, please let us know if you don’t want your statue mounted on a marble base. Made to order, please allow 4-8 weeks for production and delivery. Color Choices – The standard way we cast and finish many of our sculptures is with what we refer to as multi-color patina. However, we can also make the entire sculpture classic statuary green (verdigris) or brown for a more traditional look. Both patinas are very nice and weather the same. Color selection is more a matter of customer preference. About the artist: Auguste Clésinger was born in Besançon, in the Doubs department of France. His father, Georges-Philippe, was a sculptor and trained Auguste in art. Auguste first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1843 with a bust of vicomte Jules de Valdahon and last exhibited there in 1864. At the 1847 Salon, he created a sensation with his Woman bitten by a serpent, produced from life-casts from his model Apollonie Sabatier (the pose being particularly suitable for such a method), thus reinforcing the scandal with an erotic dimension. At the death of the composer-pianist Frédéric Chopin on 17 October 1849, Clésinger made Chopin’s death mask and a cast of his hands. He also sculpted, in 1850, the white marble funerary monument of Euterpe, the muse of music, for Chopin’s grave at the Père Lachaise Cemetery, in Paris.
